Horton Park Farm - Epsom, Surrey

This children's farm is a great family day out. The kids can get up close to all the animals. Check out before hand if there's a litter of piglets as they are especially cute to give a cuddle to!

Price: Child age 2+ £5.95 but every child can have an adult accompany them for just £1.50. Extra adults cost £5.95.

10 - 6pm in summer

Fisher's Farm Park - Wisborough Green, West Sussex

This is a bit more than your average farm. It has all the animals you'd expect but also combines a climbing wall, indoor play area, crazy golf and lots more activities to keep your kids busy all day!

Price: This is one of the pricier options with it averaging at about £11 per person in peak season when entering on a family ticket, but there is a lot to do once inside.

Museum of the History of Science, Oxford

The museum runs events throughout the summer for families and workshops just for kids. Great for budding scientists.

Price: All events are free of charge but some have a small materials fee of around £5

Tooting Bec Lido, South West London

This outdoor pool is great for the summer months providing the weather's a bit better than last year. There's a cafe so you can make a day of it as well as a shaded area if the sun gets a bit much....wishful thinking?

Price: It costs £4.50 for an adult to swim and £3.00 for children and concessions but if you've a Kinetika gym or swimming membership it's free.
