Cheap family days out: The North
The Quays, Manchester
These redeveloped quays have loads to offer for a family day out. The Quays covers a square mile and has something for everyone including museums, galleries, shopping and sports activities. One goodtoknow family visited The Quays recently and had a great day out - here's Alex and Mackenzie Barrett at the Imperial War Museum North.

You'll have to pay an entrance fee for most of the attractions - but the Imperial War Museum North has free entry. Parking is only free for the first hour.
