Mum Knows Best

  1. I thought I'd love breastfeeding, but I dreaded feeds. I'm much happier since I stopped. I'll have another go with my next baby, but I won't beat myself up if I still don't like it.
By Annabel Harper, 26, mum to Rebecca, 22 months
  2. To help my son sleep in the day, I used to put him in a hammock hung from the door frame. The gentle swinging motion would help him to sleep and he'd often stay asleep for three hours. Charlotte Highman, 33, mum to Harry, 15 months
  3. When it's all going pear shaped, rebalance yourself with a move that's a bit yoga-ish. Sit comfortably; inhale for the count of 3, exhale for a count of 6, until you feel calm. You'll find you can't breathe and count and hold on to stressful thoughts!
    Woman Magazine
  4. Finding baby clothes difficult to iron? Use a travel iron, so much easier to get those teeny weeny clothes looking smart.
  5. My breastfeeding tip is to always keep your back straight by either sitting in a straight-backed chair if you've got one, otherwise by supporting it with cushions.
Louise Drysdale, 28, mum to Rosie, Berks

If you're trying to come up with a name for your child, spare a thought for one 9-year-old from New Zealand who was called 'Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii'. Fortunately, a judge has made her a ward of court, to allow her to change the strange name.

Talula isn't the only ridiculous and unusual name to come out of New Zealand. Number 16 Bus Shelter, Violence and Benson and Hedges (for twins) have also been accepted by birth registration officers. Fortunately, Sex Fruit, Stallion and Fish and Chips were stopped.

Choosing a baby name can be hard, especially when you've got stars such as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt giving their new twins exotic names like Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon. Classic baby names stay in fashion for years, so Jack, Thomas, Emily and Sophie are popular and nearly always in the top 10 lists.

But many of us want something a little different and unique - just like the celebs. We don't want our child to be 1 of 5 Graces or Joshs in a class and desperately try to find a baby name that stands out from the pack.

So where do we find these names? We've come up with some different ways of finding new baby names and hopefully these might take your fancy - the goodtoknow unique baby name guide.
