National Curriculum tests and reports

(4 ratings)
child teacher school
At the end of every year, your child will get a report from their teacher. This is a formal check on how well your child has done and how well they are progressing.

This doesn't mean that your teacher hasn't been checking your child's progress throughout the year - this is an official record of their achievements.

During Key Stages 1 & 2, your child's progress is measured against 8 levels and at the end of each Key Stage you will get a report that tells you at what level your child is working.

At Key Stage 1, this level is based only on your teacher's views, but will be based on tests and tasks that they take part in.

At Key Stage 2, the level is based on your teacher's opinion and also your child's results in national tests.
