Set your kids free
These days children seem to grow up a lot quicker than they used to, and as a mum, you're right to be concerned if you sometimes feel their childhood is being lost. Of course we understand that times have changed, but this doesn't mean we can't help our kids enjoy the best bits of our own childhood, combined with the best bits of today's childhood.
That's why, this summer, Persil is launching the Persil Free Play Initiative 2008 - a scheme aimed at helping parents find inspirational ways for their children to express themselves through imaginative, unstructured play. It has separated this into five, key areas: Explore, Play, Create, Imagine and Experiment, so let them go and have fun!
Play is key to children's health and fitness - it helps expand their minds and helps children become more creative and expressive.
Exploration and discovery get children out in the fresh air and away from the TV. It helps them develop independence, self-learning and a spirit of adventure.
Creating encourages self-expression and helps them develop their imagination.
Using their imagination stimulates a child's mind and inspires curiosity. Plus, doing things in groups helps form good relationships through social play.
Experimenting teaches children how things work. It helps develop problem-solving skills and physical and emotional growth - and it's fun too!
Just remember, every child has the right to be a child.
