5. Start having sex

It sounds silly, but make sure you have regular sex even before you start trying for a baby. This means that you will automatically find it easier to have the amount of sex you need to conceive.

Many couples find that having to have sex at specific times of the month can be quite a pressure and it can easily cause problems in a relationship.

As Zita West says: 'The single thing that is most likely to improve our chances of conception is having lots of sex, not just sex at specific times.'

Make sure you're enjoying having sex and not just thinking about it as a way to get pregnant.

6. Get your man checked

Many couples who have a problem conceiving instantly look at the woman for fertility problems. However, a man's fertility is responsible for just as many delays in getting pregnant, so it's important that your fella is in tip-top condition as well.

Make sure he cuts back on caffeine and alcohol and isn't overweight, because these factors are just as important for sperm, as they are for your eggs.

Try to make sure he's not too stressed and get him to eat properly. You could also suggest that he starts to take a vitamin supplement which can help improve his energy levels and make him more likely to get your pregnant. Wellman tablets are a good example of these.
