Kids' Parties: Decoration ideas
If you want to make the theme work, then the more over the top you are, the better. Kids can never have enough colour and brightness.
Also, remember than whatever you put up will get torn down. Kids love to create havoc and it's inevitable that streamers, balloons and banners will be destroyed or stuffed under tables. So don't spend hours and hours getting it to look exactly right.
Balloons
A must-have for all parties. Choosing colours that match your theme will instantly make it feel more special: two shades of green for a jungle-themed, orange and black for Halloween, red and green for one around Christmas.
You can also draw faces on coloured balloons with marker pens if that helps the theme.
Make sure you put some outside to make sure everyone knows where the party is.
If you don't want the balloons to get burst too quickly, make sure you tie them up high out of reach of little grabbing fingers!
Crepe paper
One of the most versatile things to decorate a party. You can make walls, ceilings and doors look totally different by hanging some twisted or cut crepe paper to them.
Turn it into streamers that hang across the room, or hang them down from doors to create a curtain effect - as if they're going into a jungle or under the sea, depending on colour and theme.
Costumes
Getting everyone to arrive in fancy dress can make your theme feel even more authentic.
Alternatively, have a few simple props that everyone can use. You can make some of these yourself - it usually just takes a little bit of card and paper.
Hats are an easy one: tall black hats with stars on are simply to make out of card and will work perfectly for a Halloween party. Pirate hats are also easy to make - a circle of card to fit on the head and then stick the pirate design on the front.
