Christmas crafts special:

Why make Christmas presents?

- It's more fun than trudging round the shops
- It will save you money
- People love getting presents that kids have made
- You get to spend time with your kids doing something different

What you'll need

Making some of these presents may require a trip to your local craft or hobby store. However, most of the stuff is pretty cheap and can be used for lots of different purposes long after Christmas.

The basics
- Coloured paper
- PVA glue
- Paint
- Pens
- Coloured card
- Glitter
- Sequins/beads
- Safety scissors (if you don't already have them)

You're also probably going to be making a mess when you make things. Paint, glitter, glue and other craft materials tend to get everywhere, so get your kids to wear an apron or paint shirt and cover your table with a plastic sheet or newspaper.

Ms Alison black, 11 months

To avoid someone putting there hand into your handbag, this festive season, put your handbag flap or opening towards you, not on the outside or fully zipped up. To clean patent handbags, use milk or a wipe. Instead ot sticking up cards with blue tac on doors, put chord or string along wall were theres hooks for pictures, then just put xmas cards on the string or chord, to avoid cards falling off door or all & having to stick cards to door / or walls etc.
