3. Teach your baby the difference between night and day
Babies don't know the difference between night and day and will only learn if you train them. Give them lots of stimulation and interaction in the day and as little as possible during the night hours. When you're feeding during the day, sing or talk to your baby to stop them from nodding off and keep any naps light.
If your baby does wake up at night, make sure you stay in a dark room, and don't stare into their eyes - it will naturally speed up your baby's heart, raise the blood pressure and, in effect, wake them up.
4. Make noise
Yes, we know that sounds strange, but young babies are so used to noise when they're in the womb that silence is more likely to cause them problems at nighttime than noise. You can buy special 'white noise' CDs, or else put them next to the dishwasher, washing machine or even the TV.
