As well as breech presentations, 1% of babies lie horizontally or diagonally, but your baby may still change position on its own or by being manually turned by a doctor.

You are now 35 weeks pregnant or in your 36th week if that's how you're counting it

How is your baby growing?

Your baby is around 45cm and weighs 5lbs.

99% of babies that are born now survive with no major problems. Your baby's digestive system is now developed as the central nervous system.

In 96% of cases your baby's head will now be engaged. If you're having twins normally one will be engaged and the other will fit around it.

How are you feeling?

Your pelvic joints expand thanks to the pregnancy hormone, relaxin, kicking in, along with the weight of your baby.

If you haven't already done so, arrange to visit the maternity unit where you'll have your baby. Most hospitals have regular tours of the maternity unit giving you a chance to ask questions about the birth too.

Top tips

Be well prepared! Pack two hospital bags. Even if you're planning a home birth you may end up in hospital.

Have one for the labour with facial wipes, drinks, glucose energy tablets, a maternity bra, pads, paper pants and a babygro for the baby.

And one for after your baby is born with changes of clothes for you and the baby, front opening nighties, nappies, toiletries etc. Keep them by your front door.
