In these final weeks of pregnancy, it’s time to chill a bit and look after yourself in this precious ‘me time’ you have left. Try some deep breathing exercises in preparation for the birth and make sure you’re eating well and drinking lots too.
If you’re expecting twins then your obstetrician may want to induce you this week. 38 weeks is considered term for twins. Otherwise, you probably have a couple of weeks left.

Have you tried measuring your middle? In pregnancy the average woman’s waistline stretches from 27-28in to 40-42in and at 38 weeks pregnant you’ll probably be feel as big as you ever will.
And, did you know that during your nine months of pregnancy you use 87,000 calories? So you might feel hungry and tired, too.
38 weeks pregnant: Fetal development
Your baby now measures 48cm and weighs about 6lbs 8oz. All their body systems are developed and they’ll just waiting to make his way into the world.
38 weeks pregnant: The changes you should make
Your midwife should give you information about what happens if your pregnancy lasts longer than 41 weeks. She will check the size of your abdomen, measure your blood pressure and check for protein in your urine.

Both of you should add all of the important phone numbers to your mobile. That way you won’t have to dig out your hospital notes and risk leaving them behind when you head for the hospital. Include the number of your community midwife, the labour ward, ambulance control, your GP and all your babysitters.
If you have other children, reassure them about who they’ll be looked after by when you’re having the new baby. They’ll be excited too, so be careful they don’t feel left out. Ask them to help you get the baby’s bed ready or let them choose a gift for them.
