Find out whatContinuing with their centenary celebrations, Woman's Weekly have looked into their archives and found this cute baby doll's outfit from 1941!

This knitting pattern is an intermediate make. The collection of baby doll's clothes is knitted in stocking stitch and lace with garte-stitch borders.

Measurements

To fit 36cm-long, softbodied doll.

Materials

  • 1 x 50g ball of DK yarn in each of green, pink and cream
  • Small amount of DK yarn in blue.
  • Pair of 3¾mm (No. 9) knitting needles
  • Two 14cm-long pieces of 15mm pink ribbon for ties
  • 1 button
  • Length of elastic.

Tension

24 stitches and 30 rows, to 10 x 10cm, over stocking stitch, using 3¾mm needles.

Abbreviations

K, knit; p, purl; st, stitch; k1d, k next st 1 row down; sl, slip; tog, together; p2togb, p2tog through back of sts; dec, decrease (by working 2 sts tog); inc, increase (by working twice in same st); yf, yarn forward to make a st; skpo, sl1, k1, pass sl st over; ss, stocking st (k on right side and p on wrong side); wrap 1, take yarn between needles to opposite side of work, slip next st on to right-hand needle, bring yarn back to original position, then place the slipped st back on to left-hand needle.
