Rachel Pedersen, from Minnesota, decided to write the heartfelt post after receiving a series of comments from friends and family asking when she would be 'upgrading' her ring.
The 27 year old, who married her husband Poul Pedersen only 13 days after meeting him in a restaurant, said that people had frequently recommended buying a bigger ring, despite the diamond in hers being a quarter carat.
The post, which has now been shared nearly 50k times and has 14k comments, begins; 'Yes, I know that my wedding ring is small'.
The mother-of-two, who married in October 2015, continued; 'I've even had one person say - you could wear a bigger ring for important events, so people don't think you're not successful.
'Wait a minute…since when did the size of someone's ring become an indication of success?
For Rachel, a Digital Marketing Consultant, the ring isn't about the size of the stone but a symbol of their 'whirlwind, storybook, "make you sick" love story'.
'And it reminds me of how my husband and I met and fell in love in one night.'
When they first met Poul was working as a window washer and Rachel was a single mother. She has two daughters, Dakota, five, and Delilah, one.
'We couldn't stop dreaming of our future, so excited to have a baby, buy a house, fall asleep together every night. We couldn't wait for the future. So we didn't.'
Rachel continued; 'He drained his savings to gift me with a small token of his love.
'I say small, only because it pales in comparison with how big his love is, even now, after years of marriage. That, my friends, is success to me.'
Commenters have been quick to support Rachel in her decision to share her story.
April Reynolds said; 'Just goes to show what's important to some, my husband is more important to me than the size of the ring and mine isn't small.'
