Fans slam Emmerdale star Adam Thomas for letting his son ride on airport baggage carousel

While Teddy remained unhurt by the antics, some of Adam's followers were less than impressed with the film

Emmerdale star Adam Thomas has faced criticism from fans after allowing his young son to ride on a baggage carousel at an airport in Dubai.

The 27-year-old actor, who is father to one-year-old Teddy James with long-term girlfriend Caroline Daly, posted a video to his Instagram of the tot sitting on a moving carousel, followed by other passengers' luggage. He jokingly captioned the clip 'Lost and found' - but some viewers didn't see the funny side.

While many commenters responded positively, with fans branding the seemingly harmless prank 'cute' and 'brilliant', a number of Adam's followers were less than impressed with the film.

'I know it's cute but it's really dangerous to do that,' one wrote in the comments section.

Fans criticised the video, suggesting Teddy could have been in danger

The negative reception may have been in reference to an incident which took place at Alicante-Elche Airport in Spain in 2013, when a five-month-old baby tragically passed away after her mother lost her balance and dropped her onto a similar carousel while climbing on to retrieve a pushchair.

The automatic mechanism was activated, meaning the belt began to move, and the child became entangled at the entrance of the portal. Although paramedics quickly arrived and tried to rescue her, she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

'The youngster ended up trapped in a 10cm hole where two belts converge,' an airport worker later explained. 'She appeared to have suffered from a fractured skull.'

Adam, who plays Adam Barton in the popular ITV soap, was travelling to the United Arab Emirates to celebrate his partner's birthday, and hasn't yet addressed the controversial comments about the video.
