Sam Faiers Mummy Diaries correct
Fans have hit out at reality star Sam Faiers after a recent episode of ITV's The Mummy Diaries showed her getting Spanish lessons for her six-month-old son.

During the show, Sam explained that she had been fluent in Spanish herself as a toddler, and hoped that baby Paul would follow in her bilingual footsteps.

As a teacher came to the family home for Paul's first lesson, she said: 'Paul was just staring and taking it all in' - but many viewers questioned the decision to start the classes at such a young age.

Some pointed out that Sam's son cannot walk or talk yet, with others even branding the decision 'ridiculous'.

'Why the hell has Sam faiers got some women to come and teach her baby Spanish when he can't even walk yet,' one viewer commented, whilst a second added, 'Sam faiers giving her 5 month old baby spanish lessons is the most ridiculous load of sh*t ive ever heard 😂😂😂'.

'Loved the baby diaries last week.. but seems like it's getting more ridiculous as it goes on, Spanish & massages for a 6 month old?' another agreed.

Not everyone was so critical of Sam's choice - another fan defended her, writing: 'Why are people constantly digging at @SamanthaFaiers for the things she does as a Mum! I hope I'm as good as a Mum as she is💗 #mummydiaries'

And it wasn't long before Sam defended herself against the backlash either.

After language teacher Nathalie Paris tweeted 'We know as languages teachers that the earlier the better for L2 acquisition; thought everyone knew!', Sam replied, 'I know that's why I'm starting him young. 🙌🏼👶🏼 people are just uneducated about it. Shame really xx'.

Whilst Paul may seem a little young to be learning a second language, research has proved that picking up a language in your early years is far easier than developing your skills as an adult.

A 2014 study from Harvard University recommended that children should start learning languages from the age of three, and many experts recommend beginning the process even earlier.
