'This is really dangerous' Jamie Oliver warned by fans over 'irresponsible' kitchen photo of baby River

'PLEASE don't hold your baby near the stove'

Jamie Oliver has been criticised by fellow parents after sharing a snap of him and his youngest child spending some quality time in the kitchen together.

Doing what he does best, the chef was captured on camera cooking up a storm at home. But instead of having his hands full with kitchen utensils, he's been taking care of his baby boy.

The 41-year-old dad of five posted a picture to Instagram giving a glimpse into what meal times look like in the Oliver household, with Jamie frying up some food on the hob while balancing six-month-old River on his hip.

Eluding to giving his son a playful cooking lesson, Jamie captioned the photo, 'Gotta start them young!..... bless baby River he's so fascinated by the cooking.'

Dressed in a polka dot onesie, River looked adorable having visibly grown up a lot since the first baby pictures of him were released.

The post has gained a lot of attention, with 177k likes and nearly 2k comments, although some social media users have been quick to criticise the dad for the shot.

Fellow parents seemed increasingly concerned with how close baby River is to the hob and how safe it is to hold a baby with one hand in a kitchen environment.

One follower simply said, 'Irresponsible' while others warned, 'This is really dangerous guys' and 'so adorable 💞 But PLEASE don't hold your baby near the stove 👼🏻🙏🏼'.

Others offered Jamie some advice, suggesting a different way of holding River or to wait until he is older before introducing him to the kitchen, writing, 'Perhaps put River in a backback!' and 'Keep him away from flames until he is atleast four or five years old....'.

One commenter even shared their own experience, 'Just what out for those little hands! I once had an awful experience doing just that with my little girl. 😯'
