Cristiano Ronaldo has taken to Facebook to confirm that he has welcomed twins.
The football superstar and now proud dad-of-three posted a statement to his Facebook page announcing the happy news, which told fans that he was leaving the FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia, where he was captaining Portugal, to 'finally be with my children for the first time.'
Speaking of his dedication to his team, the 32-year-old wrote, 'I was in the service of the national team, as always, body and soul, even though my two children were born.
'Unfortunately, we have not been able to achieve the main sporting objective that we wanted, but I am sure we will continue to give joy to the Portuguese.'
He continued to confirm that he would be spending time with his family, particularly his children, 'The President of the Portuguese Football Federation and the national picker have today had an attitude that has touched me and I will not forget. I'm very happy to finally be with my children for the first time.'
The father-of-three did not confirm the sex of his newborn twins. Having written his message in Portugese, the common translation to English means 'two sons', but this is known as a general term in the language.
Cristiano is already father to his seven-year-old son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jnr, whose mother is unknown. It's been widely reported that the Real Madrid player is currently dating 22-year-old Georgina Rodríguez, and that his twins were born via surrogate, but this hasn't been confirmed by the star.
Fans have been showering Cristiano with their well wishes since the news, commenting on his post with messages of congratulations.
One Facebook user said, 'Congratulations on the babies you are a great human being a great dad admire you don't get sad you already give us great joys for real madrid.'
