Kourtney Kardashian faces criticism over picture of daughter Penelope wearing lipstick

The star posted a picture to Instagram to celebrate her fifth birthday

Fans of Kourtney Kardashian have been criticising the star after she posted a picture of Penelope celebrating her fifth birthday in what appears to be heavy make-up.

In the snap, which was uploaded on Sunday, Penelope wears an elaborate pink tutu and is pulling a less-than-impressed face – Kourtney has cheekily captioned the post, 'Birthday mood'.

But whilst thousands of commenters have rushed to wish the little girl a fabulous day, with many commenting on how much she looks like her dad, Scott Disick, there are others who've expressed concern at the dark lipstick she's wearing in the image.

'Get that sh*t off her face!' said one commenter, whilst another asked, '@kyliejenner did you make her use your lipstick?'

'My question was why so much n dark?' wrote a third commenter. 'Beautiful little girl. I have two daughters and I let them play with make up. But kids make up. Light... glitter... just saying.'

Not everyone was so negative though, with a few poking fun at the little girls' grumpy expression, likening her to her famously feisty family.

'So grumpy so sassy so yours 😍😍😍🌈🌈🌈🌈💄💄💄,' said one commenter, and another teased '"It's my birthday and I cry if I want to cryyy if I want to!"🎵🎶'.

The tutu pic wasn't the only photo Kourtney shared to celebrate Penelope's big day, with a candid iPhone photo earlier in the day gaining well over a million likes.

In this shot, little Penelope smiles bashfully at the camera, whilst playing with some artfully arranged balloon decorations, and Kourtney captioned this post with something much more touching.

'I can not believe my baby girl is 5 years old today 😭 Happy Birthday my sweet angel. I feel so blessed to be her mommy every morning that I wake up next to her.'

The post has clearly struck a chord with her 58.2 million followers, who has congratulated the star on her achievement of raising such a sweet little girl.

'You are the luckiest woman in the world God has blessed you with a angel on Earth,' said one commenter.

Another wrote: 'You're blessed with your angel kids...and most of all they're blessed too have you as not only a mother but their friend.'
