A new mum has taken to Instagram to share her 'emotional and painful struggle' of trying to breastfeed her newborn daughter.
Mum-of-two and photographer Angela Burzo took to the photo-sharing site to post the emotional image, which shows her feeding her daughter as she appears visibly upset with tears streaming down her cheeks.
'This is my reality right now,' Angela wrote. 'This real & as much as I want to stay strong and be the soldier I feel I can be I cannot hide the struggle that is BREASTFEEDING.
'Whether she is not latching on properly, whether I am not producing enough milk to keep up with her demand, whether my nipples might not be adequate, whether we confused her with having to give her a bottle after pumping . . . whatever it may be it has been an emotional & painful struggle.'
The new mum's post has had over 5000 likes and 764 comments, all in praise and support of her honest message.
One mum wrote: 'Never feel like you are failing, never feel guilty for using a bottle, never feel that you are alone. You are amazing, and you've got this.'
Another added: 'I cried through breastfeeding with my son. I wish I had switched to a bottle earlier instead of going through a year of hell breastfeeding over guilt. Just do what is right for you!'
Angela went on to update her 1,664 followers with another post, thanking all of them for their love and support.
'I had NO idea my post would reach so many people' she began.
'I could cry right now from all of the love I've received BUT my goal is to NOT cry today (seems like my only goal lately). I have read almost ALL of your kind, loving, encouraging & supportive comments & I would love to reply to all of you but since I am still exclusively breastfeeding (haven't crossed the supplement bridge yet) I barely have time to finish my Mother's Tea ☕️.'
Ending the post on a positive note, Angela revealed she's keen to keep trying to breastfeed her daughter, but won't feel guilty if she has to stop.
'For now I am going to keep at it. I just tell myself I will not feel ashamed if I have to give it up because as strong of a woman it takes to exclusively breastfeed it takes an equally strong woman to walk away.'
