Mum shares incredible photo of breast milk which changed colour when her child was sick

Women's bodies are amazing!

A mother has shared an absolutely fascinating photo showing how her breast milk changed colour when she was feeding her daughter who was ill with a fever.

Taking to Facebook the mum in question, Ashlee Chase, explained that people often question why she still breastfeeds her seven-month-old child.

They ask: 'Why do you still let your 7 month old nurse? She's too old. She's just using you as a pacifier. You need to put her in her own bed.'

As the saying goes, a picture's worth a thousand words, and so as a way to silence the judgemental comments the mum posted a photo of her milk three days before her daughter became ill, and compared it to a photo of her milk the day her daughter had a fever.

'Top milk is from 3 days ago when a healthy Elliot was nursing,' she said in the caption alongside the snap. 'Bottom is from today, after sick Elliot with a fever comfort nursed all night'.

'This is 100% why.'

Talking to Yahoo, Ashlee said she called her daughter's paediatrician, who told her the breast milk's darker yellow colour mean there was 'more fat and antibodies in that milk' that would help her daughter fight the infection.

Since posting the photo has had more than 7,000 shares and thousands of comments from parents fascinated by the photo.

'It's amazing what mums' bodies do to help our babies,' one person wrote. 'That's your milk producing antibodies to fight the illness.'

Another simply wrote: 'Wow, this is amazing.'

This isn't the first time that breast milk has wowed the internet, we reported in February this year how mum Chelsea Pryce posted two pictures of bags of breast milk that she'd expressed for her children to Facebook.

Chelsea detailed that while one child was ill, she'd been feeding them from separate breasts - and the change in the breast milk was fascinating.
