The premature arrival of Laura's little girl was initially announced in September by colleagues Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, live on Good Morning Britain.

The new mum has since taken to the show to open up about taking Charlotte home, after their extended hospital stay.

'We are finally home as a family – she was in hospital for quite a while, and she gave me quite a fright when she arrived very early,' she said.

The 36-year old admitted she was staying positive for her 'brave' and 'vulnerable' baby girl.

Laura, who remains on maternity leave, called into the ITV show to give hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley an update on her baby girl's progress: 'She is getting on so well. We just didn't know what to expect.'

The new mum also went on to say that her and husband Dean Brown, are 'staying so positive because [Charlotte] is so positive.'

'She is a very amazing baby. We love her so much.'

GMB newsreader Charlotte Hawkins then jokingly thanked the brunette for naming her firstborn after her.

Laura has been married to Charlotte's father Dean, who she met at university, since August 2010 - and they've been together 16 years.
