Prince George and Princess Charlotte have been spending lots of time in the garden at their new home Kensington Palace with their mum, the Duchess of Cambridge revealed today.
Kate spent the morning visiting Robin Hood Primary School in London in celebration of the Royal Horticultural Society's Campaign for School Gardening which marks its 10th year this year.
The special programme which the Duchess learnt about today aims to enhance children's skills and boost their develop by providing them with opportunities to get involved in gardening projects at their school.
Kate spent time planting bulbs with school children and putting her gardening skills to the test while the pupils looked on and made homes for bugs around her.
The pupils also showed off their completed bug homes to the Duchess, who took delight in discovering that they had named it 'Bug-ingham Palace', after Buckingham Palace – which will one day become Kate's home.
At the end of her visit, Kate made a speech thanking the school for inviting her to visit, and also revealed that gardening is a pastime and skill she hopes to pass on to her own two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
'I've got such fond memories of being in the garden and being outside as a child' Kate said. 'And I'm sharing that with my own children, George and Charlotte.'
As well as Kate's desire to pass on a love of the outdoors to George and Charlotte and take them outside to help her with the gardening, Prince Charles has also previously revealed his hopes that his grandchildren will follow in his footsteps with a love for nature.
Speaking of his grandson George, Prince Charles has previously revealed that the youngster already 'loves being outside.'
'Fortunately he's one of those characters, I think, who naturally, instinctively likes to be outside,' Prince Charles said in an interview with Sky News.
'It's very interesting. I'm intrigued to see if it lasts. But he loves being outside, which is encouraging. Like all these things, it depends if you can get them to take an interest.'
Concluding her royal engagement today, the Duchess also said that she has 'taken inspiration' from her visit - suggesting that there may well be another 'Bug-ingham Palace' springing up in the grounds of its namesake very soon.
