Elf on the Shelf has been a popular Christmas tradition with families for some years now, with parents moving the elf to a new location around the house every night for their children to discover with delight the following morning. This year, parents can even by accessories for their Elf on the Shelf, so you can switch up your elf's attire every day should you wish too.
However, as any parent who takes part in the Elf on the Shelf tradition with their children will know, coming up with hiding places and scenarios for the elf throughout December - as well as remembering to move them each night - can becoming taxing!
So we had a very special visitor last night and looks like he will be having lots of festive adventures this Christmas! The kids absolutely love our @elfontheshelf tradition and the magical story book that comes with it. We’ve named our scout elf Ben. Will you be doing the @elfontheshelf Christmas tradition this year? #elfontheshelfuk #ad
While you can get plenty of Elf on the Shelf ideas, simply going to the effort of keeping the magic of the elf alive each night in December, when families are so busy in the build up to Christmas, can be one too many jobs for parents to do each day.
Taking to his Instagram, Peter Andre shared his similar frustrations writing 'Just got into bed and forgot to move that damn elf. Beds too important right now...'
Luckily for the pop star, there were plenty of parents online who were quick to offer an ingenious Elf on the Shelf hack that allows parents a bit of a break from elf hiding duties in December.
'Put a little plaster cast on him and say he has to rest his little broken elf leg for 2 weeks'; suggested one of Peter's fans.
'Say he's broken his leg and he's got a plaster on it and Santa said he's not allowed to be moved for two weeks - result!'
And it seems that other parents had the same plan when they ran out of Elf on the Shelf ideas.
'Give yourself a rest from elfing and wrap his leg up in a bandage...he's badly sprained his ankle and needs to stay where he is for a few days!'
'Put a cast (electrical tape) on his leg and say Santa has put him on strict rest as his fell and broke his leg.'
