'We still break down in tears' Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon opens up about 'heartbreaking' loss of her dog
'He was like my baby'
Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has opened up about the 'heartbreaking' loss of her dog, saying that she still breaks down in tears eight months later.
The actress first revealed that her beloved dog Sonny had passed away last March, in an emotional Instagram post.
Almost a year later, the 35-year-old has spoken out about losing her 'baby', whom she had for 11 years.
Speaking exclusively to OK! Magazine, Samia said: 'It was a funny old year, really. He was like my baby. I'd had him since I was 23.
The 35-year-old, who lost her father Joseph in 2009 when he passed away from cancer, said losing Sonny was one of 'hardest' moments of her life.
'Apart from losing my dad, it's one of the hardest things I've had to go through. It was heartbreaking.
'If we watch videos of him now, we still break down in tears. He was amazing with the kid. We have his picture up in the lounge, so we can see him every day.'

Her husband, Dancing On Ice professional Sylvain, also added that Sonny was part of the family: 'He was one of the family and slept on Sam’s pillow every night.'
Samia took to social media last year to reveal that she had to make the difficult decision to put down her dog last year.
'This week we had to let our beautiful Sonny go to sleep. He was by my side for for 11 amazing years, the best dog I could have ever wished for. We miss him more than words can say.. look after him dad 💔🌈#rainbowbridge #irreplaceable', she wrote at the time, alongside a picture of her and Sonny.
Samia often posted snaps of her 'little boy' on Instagram, including one of him after he had to undergo a dental operation in 2016.
'So glad to have our little boy home after his dental op today.. ❤️🐶 #braveboy #sonny #partofthefamily', she captioned the picture.
