Which is the best baby dry nappy for night and day time? We asked goodtoknow mums to test 6 of the most popular baby dry nappies to help you decide on the best nappy for you.

When you're trying to get your baby to sleep for longer, the last thing you want is them waking up with a wet nappy in the middle of the night. So us sleep-deprived mums need to know the most comfortable and absorbent nappy to keep our babies dry morning, noon and night.

We asked 6 lovely goodtoknow mums to test 6 of the most popular baby dry nappies out on their babies and score them out of 5 for comfort, skin care and absorbency during day and night-time use, to help you decide on the best nappies. And as the cost of nappies can really add up, especially when it feels like you're buying a pack every time you go to the shops, our testers have also scored each nappy for their value too.

The nappies we tested are:

  • Pampers Baby-Dry nappies (£6.49 carry pack)
  • Huggies super dry nappies (£6.49 carry pack price)
  • Asda Little Angels comfort dry nappies (£5.97 larger economy pack)
  • Tesco baby ultradry nappies (£4.68 carry pack)
  • Boots super dry nappies (£4.68 carry pack)
  • Pampers Simply Dry nappies (£4.50 carry pack)

Hazel said: 'Pampers Baby-Dry nappies were a lovely fit, flexible enough for playtime and looked nice too. The nappies did a good job in the day and kept Joseph dry overnight.

'I did notice some nappy crystals on one occasion when Joseph had a very wet nappy in the morning and he also experienced nappy rash during the trial as he was teething.'

Would you use this nappy again? 'Yes, Pampers Baby-Dry nappies are softer and less bulky than some supermarket brands, making it easier for Joseph to get around. I've tried nearly every brand on the market and sometimes my choice has to come down purely to cost, but this nappy seems like good value for money and on the whole has good overnight absorbency.'

Would you use this nappy again? 'Yes, they are an excellent brand, a perfect fit and I didn't have any problems with these nappies at all.'

Asda says its comfort dry nappies have a comfortable and super-absorbent core to help draw wetness away from your baby's skin and its breathable materials keep your baby dry at night. goodtoknow mum Emma Pattison joined our testing panel to try out Asda Little Angels comfort dry nappies on her 10-month-old son, Frederick, and scored the nappies out of 5 for...

Value for money: 5/5

Overall baby dry nappy score: 35/35

Emma said: 'Even though Frederick is big, Asda Little Angels comfort dry nappies were a great fit. We've had leakages using Huggies nappies (especially overnight), however the Asda nappies only leaked once when I left the nappy on for too long, but I don't think they would have leaked at all under normal circumstances. Plus we had no leakages from the nappies in the night.

'I did notice that one nappy already had a tab open when I got it out of the pack but it wasn't really an issue. And when I left the nappy on for too long I noticed nappy crystals.'

Would you use this nappy again? 'Yes. I 'm really impressed with these nappies and I'm quite disappointed that they've run out at the moment, as I am back to Huggies, which I will not be buying again because they're unreliable.'

Tesco baby ultradry nappies

Tesco says its ultradry nappies offer your baby comfort, protection and day-and-night dryness. goodtoknow mum and our Family channel editor, Jennifer Bounsall, joined our testing panel to try out Tesco baby ultradry nappies on her 18-month-old son, Samuel, and scored the nappies out of 5 for...

Skin care: 4/5

Day time use: 4/5

Night-time use: 4/5

Absorbency of wee: 4/5

Containing poo: 4/5

Value for money: 5/5

Overall baby dry nappy score: 29/35

Jenny said: 'Tesco baby ultradry nappies were surprisingly soft, plus nice and flexible around Samuel's thighs, which is great because he's at that active age now. I was pleased to see that the nappies didn't rub against his legs and hips like I've noticed with some of the more plasticky value nappies I've tried.

'Samuel seemed happy to stay in a wet nappy, even after a few hours, so I knew they were doing their job at absorbing the wetness away from his skin, but I did notice that a full nappy started to drop down after a while. The nappies also worked well after a full night's sleep, without leaking once during the trial.'

Would you use this nappy again? 'I actually prefer using pull-up nappies on Samuel, because they're easier for me to put on him, as he hates lying down to have his nappy changed at the moment. However, as his nursery won't accept pull-ups, I'll definitely be buying these nappies to use there, because they're nice and cheap and really do the trick.'

Comfort: 4/5

Skin care: 4/5

Day time use: 4/5

Night-time use: 5/5

Absorbency of wee: 5/5

Containing poo: 5/5

Value for money: 3/5

Overall baby dry nappy score: 30/35

Claire said: 'I found Boots super dry nappies to be a good fit and they kept Jake dry and clean. I only experienced very occasional leakages up the front and back during the trial. Sometimes I find with other nappies that if he does an explosive poo, it can escape out the sides, but this nappy seemed to fit really well and do its job.'

Would you use this nappy again? 'I've never tried Boots nappies before, as tend to buy nappies from the supermarket because it's easier to put them in the car. After trialing these nappies though, I've been out to the town centre to buy Jake's nappies from Boots - I just like the style, fit and the cute little teddy design on them. And when Boots have a 3-for-2 offer on, you can save money when you get the 3rd pack free, which is a bonus.'

Pampers says its Simply Dry nappies have an Extra-Dry layer and offer great-value dryness. goodtoknow mum Hazel James joined our testing panel to try out Pampers Simply Dry nappies on her 16-month-old son, Joseph, and scored the nappies out of 5 for...

Skin care: 2/5

Night-time use: 2/5

Absorbency of wee: 2/5

Containing poo: 2/5

Value for money: 2/5

Overall newborn nappy score: 15/35 lowest score!

Hazel said: 'Pampers Simply Dry nappies' absorbency wasn't great and Joseph's bottom felt wet when I changed him, so I wouldn't be happy using them overnight. The sizing also came up smaller than other nappies.'

Would you use this nappy again? 'Pampers Simply Dry nappies didn't do Joseph's skin any favours as the absorbency was poor and they felt cheap and not as well made as most other brands.'
