What to do if your teen starts talking in slang

It’s fine for your children to speak a different way in school to the way you expect them to speak at home. Adopting a ‘school’ mode of speaking is a survival method they need to fit in environments where they’ll be teased or even beaten up if they speak in the wrong manner. But kids need to know there’s a form of Standard English they should be using when it’s required – like in a job interview.
