Alnwick Castle, Northumberland
The exterior of this medieval castle was used as the location for the legendary Hogwarts school, so it’s a must-visit for all Harry Potter fans. Visitors of all ages will love learning about the history of the castle, which dates back to 1906, as well as seeing areas that were used for memorable parts of the films, like the inner courtyard where Harry first learned to fly on a broom and played his first Quidditch match.
Touring tip: Before you visit, find out if there’ll be any Harry Potter-inspired events or tours taking place at Alnwick Castle. Wizarding with Hagrid and Dumbledore is one of the events taking place a few times over the summer and offers you the chance to watch magic shows by the much-loved characters.
