Fit mum shares inspirational photo admitting she should have been 'patient' with her post-baby bump

Revie is trying to encourage other new mums to be patient with their bodies too

Personal trainer and new mum Revie Jane Schulz has shared an inspirational photo to encourage other mums to be patient waiting for their post-baby bodies to return.

New mums browsing Instagram could easily feel disheartened by the pictures of celebrities and social media famous women showing off their flat stomachs, sometimes just days after giving birth.

That's why 'fit mum' and Instagram star Revie has posted an honest timeline showing that it's taken five months for her 'pouch to start shrinking' and empowering new mums to not feel pressurised.

Revie is known for her clean eating and weight training regime, something which although she and many other mums have been criticised for, she continued to do while pregnant. But even a professional fitness trainer can feel self conscious, which she admitted in her post, showing three images of herself at 21 weeks pregnant, 37 weeks pregnant and then five months after giving birth when she finally felt better about her stomach.

Revie wrote, 'These 3 photographs taken at 21 weeks, 37 weeks and baby girl Lexington is 5 months old. I STILL cant believe I grew a human, the sweetest little human I could have ever dreamed up- Baked for 41 weeks and 3 days right there in my belly.'

The new mum admitted that seeing her body after giving birth gave her a 'shock', presuming that all would return to normal almost immediately, 'I remember just after having Lex I still looked about 6 months pregnant 😳 it was such a shock. Despite trying to convince myself that it will go back down, inside I believed my tummy would stay that way forever. It took a good 3 months for my pouch to start shrinking again.'

Revi wants to inspire other new mums and encourage them to be patient, 'But it does shrink back down, I promise. In hindsight, yes, a bit of patience would have come in handy 😂 but that has never been my strong suit.'

Followers have come forward to share their own stories, one Instagram user wrote, 'Your story gives me hope seriously, My son grew in my tummy for 41 weeks and he's a big boy, it's been only 3 weeks but every time I look at my belly I want to cry I look like I'm 6 months pregnant.

'When I see your pictures and your story I have faith that it will get better in time 🙏🏽'
