Fans have criticised Jessica Simpson after she posted a picture of her five-year-old daughter wearing make-up on social media.
The singer took to her Instagram account to share a glimpse of her mummy and daughter day out with five-year-old Maxwell with her four million followers.
Posting a selfie with her mini lookalike, Jessica revealed to fans that Maxwell has quite a big interest in make up and that MAC Cosmetics is her favourite store.
She wrote in the caption: ‘@maccosmetics is my daughter’s favorite store! Mommy-Daughter Day with #MAXIDREW #girlygoth’
But even though many thought the mummy and daughter snap was cute, the picture also sparked criticism from some, who said the five-year-old is too young to be wearing make-up.
One said: ‘How about taking your daughter some were fun were she can be a little girl. Instead of being brain washed that she need makeup to look pretty.’
A second wrote: ‘Isn’t she too young for makeup? 🤔💄’; while a third added: ‘Way too young for that to be her favourite store’.
A fourth fan commented: ‘She’s to young for make-up. Your going to regret it. Trust me.’
Another fan also criticised the mum for encouraging her daughter’s obsession with make-up: ‘Her favorite store?? OMG. She should be playing outside or learning about the world not sitting in a chair putting on make up at MAC. What’s wrong with you.’
Not everyone agreed with the criticism however, with many of Jessica’s fans defending the The Dukes of Hazzard star.
One wrote: ‘She is having fun, did you not read the caption?! She is in her favourite shop. What’s more fun than that? How about you parent your own and not make comments on how others parent theirs.’
Another commented: ‘Every little girl likes to play with makeup and that’s all this pic is about. Lighten up a little’.
Video of the Week
It’s not the first time Jessica has faced criticism on social media. In July, fans questioned Maxwell’s pose in a family picture, where she was making a ‘duck face’.
