Mum's bike helmet warning goes viral after son suffers injuries like a 'motorcycle accident'

A mum's post has gone viral after she shared the heartbreaking images of her son's head injury following a fall from his bike.

Tiffany A Rivera explained in her post that her 10-year-old son Jaden was riding a bike without a helmet, which ended up meaning he had a '50/50 chance' of surviving after his fall.

The problem was, Jaden's injuries weren't obvious at first, which is why Tiffany wanted to share her post with the Facebook community as a warning to other parents. She starts by explaining that after Jade's fall, 'When he was asked if anything else hurt his only complaints where his elbow and knee. He showed no signs of trauma and continued about his day.'

Two days later Jaden 'woke up complaining of a headache and seemed very lethargic,' writes mum Tiffany. Continuing, she says, 'After looking at Jaden you could see swelling around his right temple. The spot on his temple was not hard, more like really squishy. I decided to take him to the hospital.'

Jaden's mum then goes on to describe the heartbreaking scenario of having her child whisked away from her to undergo surgery that only had a 50% chance of success.

In her post she details the life-saving procedure, saying: They preformed a Right frontotemporal craniotomy, removal of the epidural hematoma and had to place a wire mesh cranioplasty on his skull. The surgery was only supposed to take 1 1/2 hours, Jaden was in surgery for 2 1/2 hours. We were told by the surgeon and other doctors that it was a miracle he survived. All other cases the kids never came out of surgery.'

Tiffany finishes her post by thanking the hospital staff and urging other parents to make sure their children wear helmets when out riding on bikes or scooters. She adds that, 'This can happen to anyone! The injuries my son had were equal to those in a motorcycle accident!'
