A mum blogger has slammed a stranger who criticised the way she dresses, and told her to dress according to her age.
Mum blogger Stevie, from Australia, often shares photos of herself and her four kids on Instagram with her 19.7k followers, alongside blogging about motherhood and lifestyle on her website, Tribe of Six.
Recently, ‘someone’ told Stevie that they don’t think she dresses ‘like a mum’ and she shouldn’t wear the clothes that she does because they aren’t ‘age appropriate’.
Feeling particularly angered by the criticism, the mum-of-four posted a picture on Instagram of herself dressed in the outfit in question: ripped jeans, a printed t-shirt and sunglasses.
She captioned it: ‘I will look however i want to look and dress in whatever i want to dress in and still be a Mum.
‘Did the government roll out and distribute a mum uniform and i missed the memo?
‘What i choose to look like or wear does not change who i am within. My appearance does not impact my personality. Who i am on the outside does not define who i am on the inside. Your opinions, views and sense of style only reflects you and not anyone else. I will look however i want to look and dress in whatever i want to dress in and still be a Mum. I could have a sex change and i’ll still be the mother to my children.’
Since uploading the photo, Stevie has received over 1,000 likes and 141 comments, with many supporting her for slamming the critic.
‘Well said Stevie! I dress according to my mood, the fact that I’ve had kids doesn’t enter my brain?! I’ve given my life to them so if I want to wear ripped jeans and a green day t shirt I bloody will. Love this post’, one wrote.
‘Argh this annoys me so much! You look amazing and who exactly made the rule as to how to “dress like a Mum”? Judgemental people suck.’, said another.
