NSYNC's Chris Kirkpatrick is expecting his first child

The star confirmed the happy news to PEOPLE magazine

NSYNC star Chris Kirkpatrick has announced that he is expecting his first child with his wife Karly.

The singer, 45, broke the happy news to PEOPLE magazine, telling the title: 'Karly and I are over the moon excited that we are welcoming a new addition to the family.

'We are both looking forward to becoming parents, and learning how much fun having a child will be.'

Chris popped the question to Karly in Italy in 2012, after several years of dating, and the pair tied the knot in a romantic Italian-themed hotel in Florida in November of the following year.

Speaking at the time, Chris said of his bride: 'She looked amazing. Gorgeous. It was totally unbelievable. When she walked down the aisle, she took my breath away. I was like, "Wow." She looked gorgeous.

'The wedding party was huge. I have four sisters and Karly has three, plus she had two friends she wanted to be in it. We had this huge old wedding party. I had my groomsmen, and of course the NSYNC guys were my ushers.

'Everything went amazingly. Karly was happy with everything, and as long as she was happy, I was happy. It was a perfect day.'

When asked whether the pair were planning on starting a family anytime soon, Chris added: 'Yes! Karly wants to have kids really quickly, so we're going to do that. That's our plan. We're definitely ready to have children – we both want them.' He isn't the first of his NSYNC bandmates to become a father - frontman Justin Timberlake welcomed son Silas with wife Jessica Biel in 2015, whilst Joey Fatone is dad to two daughters, Brianha and Kloey.

Chris confirmed to PEOPLE that Karly's due date is October of this year, so we look forward to seeing if the baby name that this couple choose is just as unique!

Congratulations guys!
