The truth about sex and pregnancy

Sex in pregnancy is often one thing or another. You either can’t get enough of it or you can’t entertain the thought of it.

Why is this the case and can you change your attitude to sex during pregnancy? Read on to find out.

5 reasons you can’t get enough sex

1. You feel so sexy!
Many women find they’re permanently in the mood for sex while pregnant. There could be biological reasons for this. During pregnancy the vagina is more lubcricated than usual which can make it easier to reach an orgasm.

Also, levels of the hormones estrogen and progesterone surge, increasing the blood flow to the breasts and the pelvic area, making you more aroused.

2. You’re relaxed
Since you’re already pregnant you don’t have to worry about contraception, PMS or periods. This can make you feel much more relaxed about making love. It’s perfectly possible to have sex from the day you discover you’re pregnant until the day the baby arrives – so enjoy!

3. He loves your body – and so do you
Many men love the way their partner looks during pregnancy. A softer, feminine shape means wider hips and bigger breasts – the stuff of men’s dreams. A pregnant belly is a beautiful sight and can also be a real turn-on. You may also feel much better about your body.

Even women who normally find fault with their figures often feel much better about themselves during pregnancy. And the more attractive you feel, the more sexy you become.

4. You’re closer than ever
If you’ve been trying to conceive for a while or are simply thrilled to be pregnant, you will both be very happy. This in turn will increase your desire to be close and make love.

5. You have to experiment
The missionary position won’t be very comfortable later in pregnancy so the bigger you get the more inventive you’ll both have to become.
