Rachel Adedeji calls for new mums to be honest about the ‘baby blues’

Rachel Adedeji has admitted to suffering from the ‘baby blues’.

The 26-year-old welcomed her first child with husband Jason Finnegan in December last year and has taken some time to adjust to her new role.

‘In terms of the aftermath, they say it’s the best thing ever, which it is, but then you start to worry about everything. No one told me about the baby blues,’ she opened up to OK! magazine.

Wanting to be totally transparent about what she’s been going through since giving birth, Rachel continued by admitting that she’s also found feeling her little one tough.

‘No one told me about how hard breastfeeding actually is. The struggle is so real and I think people try to paint it as perfect. I’d rather people just be honest about it,’ she said.

‘For me, it was just crying all the time at first, but it’s gone now. You’ve made this amazing human and you want the best for them, so you will cry and you might feel a bit sad but it’s okay, because it will eventually go.

‘I think if you don’t talk about it, that’s what could lead to postnatal depression.’

Rachel found fame while competing on The X Factor back in 2009. More recently, she’s known for playing Lisa Loveday on popular soap Hollyoaks.

She announced the birth of her daughter Lillian Oluremi Adedeji-Finegan on Twitter by posting a very cute picture of her newborn in a blanket.
