‘I’m training him up’ Simon Cowell opens up about his ambitions for son Eric

Simon Cowell has revealed he has already started preparing his four-year-old son Eric for when he is old enough to take over the family business.

Doting dad Simon was speaking on Lorraine with Dan Wootton when he opened up about the career he hopes his son will pursue.

Unsurprisingly the reality television judge and music mogul, who has judged Britain’s Got Talent, The X Factor and Pop Idol, hopes Eric will take after him.

Simon revealed: ‘I look at things through his eyes now, I want to spend more time with him. I’m lucky because he likes the show [Britain’s Got Talent], so he comes down to the shows with me, because I’m sort of training him up.’

Dan joked: ‘One day he will take over this franchise.’

And proud dad Simon confirmed that he hopes Eric will want to take over from him. He said: ‘A million per cent, I think about it all the time, I’d love him to take over.’

Look at Eric 😂😂😂 Mini @SIMONCOWELL but cute!! 😂😍

Cheryl’s snap of Eric last year confirmed that he certainly has his dad’s look down to a tee

This isn’t the first time Simon has spoken about his hopes for Eric. In an interview with Fox News Simon said: ‘He has to take over for me. I’ve put him in training. He’s down at the shows, he has the earplugs in. I would absolutely love it if  he could do what I do’.

Eric celebrated his fourth birthday back in February and Simon has been keen to cut back his busy schedule for special time with his son and to ensure he doesn’t suffer another health scare.

Last year the music mogul had a horrible fall that forced him to pull out of live X Factor shows after he was taken to hospital.

Opening up about his health scare to Dan, Simon reiterated that it was a reminder you have to strike a balance.

He said: ‘In a weird way it was a wake up call, because it wasn’t the end of the world, it was a bit embarrassing, but I will never hear a bad word about the NHS. I mean these people were unbelievable…I was probably overtired, but I feel better this year than I did this time last year, not so many meetings, not so many late night calls, bit more of a balance.’
