I needed a new kettle, and so purchased the Tefal QuickCup Kettle from www.currys.co.uk.
At £49.99 it wasn't cheap, but it only uses a third of the energy of an ordinary kettle and takes three seconds to produce a cup of boiling water, which I think is worth the expense. Just fill it with cold water and press the red button for an instant cuppa. It can also give you a glass of cool, filtered water.
