Monica Grenfell qualified in Food Science and Human Nutrition over 20 years ago, and spent her early career working for large companies testing and analysing their food ranges. She later worked in an obesity clinic for six years.

In 1995, Monica wrote 5 Days to a Flatter Stomach which went on to be a global bestseller. Other books followed, notably Beat Your Body Chaos, Cellulite Buster, Revenge Diet and her latest, Crash Diet.

In 1996, Monica started a weekly column in the Sunday Mirror newspaper, followed in 1998 by a nine-year stint at the News of the World, writing her weekly Health club column.

Monica has been retained by leading pharmaceutical companies Glaxo SmithKline and Reckitt Benckiser, writing online nutrition features for their websites around their Always and Senokot brands. She is commissioned by many food companies to write diets, in particular the Rachel's Organic Company, for whom in 2006 Monica wrote the highly successful book The Yogurt Diet.

Monica has also written for GQ, SHE, Now, Top Santé and many newspapers and magazines all over the world. She is friend to many celebrities and gives them off-the-record, personal advice on achieving their best figures for special events and red-carpet moments.

She currently writes the Better Body Club column for Woman's Own.

Monica has two adult sons.
