Bring back breakfast

Bring back breakfast
Average rating: 3 out of 5 star rating

Who hasn't heard the expression breakfast is the most important meal of the day? And everyone's heard it because it's a fact. When we wake up in the morning, we haven't eaten for around eight hours and the body needs to be refueled with food so we don't feel tired.

Will I lose weight if I skip breakfast?
Many people believe that skipping breakfast is the key to losing weight, but that's actually not true. If your first meal of the day is lunch, you'll probably eat earlier so that by mid-afternoon you'll be hungry again and tempted to reach for the snacks. You're more likely to lose weight or stay a healthy weight if you eat breakfast.

What are the benefits of a good breakfast?
Whether you work or look after your family you'll find you'll have more energy and perform better if you've had a good breakfast. And studies have shown that kids who eat breakfast do better at school.

What sort of breakfast should I eat?
You need protein and fibre for a healthy breakfast. A breakfast that includes these will keep your energy levels up and keep you full until lunchtime.
Protein - Eggs, beans, soy, low-fat meats
Fibre - Wholegrains, fruit, vegetables

Can you give me some examples of a healthy breakfast?
Hard-boiled egg with wholegrain bread soldiers.
Scrambled or poached egg on wholegrain toast.
A wholegrain cereal such as wholegrain muesli or porridge.
Glass of orange juice or smoothie.
