I agree with other others, these meals are not in general low enough priced. For example roast chicken is there at the end of the week's planning. I would cook it first, then use left overs for toasted clubhouse sandwiches and even more left overs for thick hearty soup the following day. A good cook stretches food from one meal to another over a period of days and your planner sort of assumes totally 'new' food each day. There ARE ways of getting choices lower in cost and I don't think the recipes reflect this. Probably you should ask REAL women out there cooking what they do......but it is at least a start in the right direction.

I do like this, though, even though the title is misleading. You certainly can't get all of these ingredients for less than £40 where I shop, either. But the recipes look good, and it's nice to see new ways of serving eggs... they are cheap, excellent for you, and delicious... and my 2.5 year old actually eats them without a fuss, which is always a bonus.

I have been looking for a good family meal planner for a while and I think I shall carry on looking. Nice few tips on evening meals but like many others I have got to feed all the family for a whole week which does include breakfast and lunch.

I still think this is a good idea. I hate when you try to put together a weekly meal-list from other websites and end up buying a whole box of something or another when you only need 1 serving. This way, you'd end up using the rest of it on other dinner nights. If only the options were vegetarian, I'd be all over it!!

It's great that this site is helping families to make what little money we have go further BUT do you and your family only eat one meal a day? Mine certainly don't. So youv'e planned a familiy of fours tea for 1 week costing £40 - what about breakfasts? what about lunches? Whether you're at work or home for lunch you've got to eat and by the time you've added the cost of cereals, milk, bread etc for breakfasts and more bread, sandwich fillings etc for lunch boxes I'm sure my weeking shopping bill would be exactly what it is now with out your 'credit crunch shopping list', not to mention household products such as toilet roll....
