I have just been to Disney Paris with my grandaughter Millie and I was wondering if you have ever featured a knitting pattern for either Minnie or Mickey as she would love to have one. I thought that you may have published one in your magazine. If not does anyone knoe where I can get one or does anyone have one they no longer require? Thanks

Womans Realm: A few weeks ago i was looking in my loft and found a pattern for a rag doll. When my children were young, I helped out at the local primary school and taught children sewing and we used to make this doll. I have lost the picture but have the pattern. I would like to help the children at my local school. to make these dolls. It would be lovely if anybody reading this has a copy or picture. I am going back at least 30 years and i know this is a tall order.

On page 17 of the issue dated 27th October 2009 the article 'Yes, you can wear it!' features a 'versatile dress - wear for day and night'. The dress is attributed to Evans. However, I have made telephone and e-mail enquiries to Evans and they advise me that it is NOT a dress from any of their ranges. So, where can I get it?

PLEASE would someone be kind enough to let me know where I can obtain the Knitting and Crochet specials that Womans Weekly publishes periodically. We used to be able to buy them in South Africa but now when I travel down there (from my home in Botswana) they no longer have them at the SA CNA shops where I used to source them. I see another one went on sale in the UK on 2nd of October. I have not been able to obtain them for some years now and would love the back copies too.

Following the article about me making raw chocolate in the 3 Nov issue; if anyone else is inspired to have a go, have a look at www.chocchick.com for ingredients and recipes. I'm unable to eat dairy and sugar and was thrilled to finally find chocolate I could eat. I know what a nightmare it can be dealing with allergies and I hope this might help other people out there stuck on soya milk and rice cakes!

In the first half of 1972 WW published a 12 page supplement titled ' The Many Sided Craft of Sewing' which included a pattern and instructions for making a 'Hush a Bye rag doll' (Two faced Doll). I made the doll several times and I would like to make one for my great granddaughter for Christmas but I have lost the pattern. Does anyone have a copy, know where I could get one or know who designed the doll???

Can anyone help me? I am looking for a copy of Woman`s Weeky from June 1995, featuring interviews with ladies who have modelled knitwear for the magazine. I think it was the 20th June 1995 edition. I read it from cover to cover at the time, but unfortuantely it belonged to a pile of magazines at a medical centre! If somebody is willing to part with it, I would be happy to reward that person for sending it to me. It does not have to be in brilliant condition. Many thanks.

I have just noticed that sometimes you send readers a copy of a pattern if it can be found. If that turns out to be the case with the Angelica pattern (written about in my previous post from today), I do have friends in the U.K. so sending a sase would not present a problem....if I am in luck and you find the pattern and can make if available! Hi, I grew up in Bermuda (in the 50's and 60's) and always looked forward to buying and reading the issues of Woman's Weekly as they eventually made it to the island. Now I live in the U.S., but still consider myself a huge fan of British domestic magazines like yours. I am also an avid knitter and fan of Alan Dart's designs. Lately I have been trying to get my hands on a certain Alan Dart pattern, Angelica (of the Rugrats t.v. series and the movies) that I believe was published in WW probably many years ago by now. I might be able to get a copy on eBay (there is one there now and I'll bid on that), but as I research this pattern, I have not been able to find a citation for exactly when it ran in the magazine, like the issue date and page numbers. Can you please help me with this information? Many thanks!

Tina Egleton. Helen, We always feature character patterns in WW magazine and will continue to do so. They are designed by various designers - one of them being Alan Dart. However, his commitment with running his own website means, he is not able to design character patterns for us at present.

In the late 1970's I knitted myself a jacket using (as suggested) Lumberjack 100%pure wool. The jacket had wooden toggle buttons, a fold over collar, fold back cuffs, inset pockets and a tie belt. I loved that jacket and was so proud of it, it was about the 3rd thing I'd ever knitted. However I didn't think I'd ever knit it again so got rid of the pattern when I was having a clear-out. Big mistake. With it being pure wool, it grew and grew until I couldn't wear it anymore. I would love to knit it again, so if anyone can recognise it from my vague description, and just happens to know where I can obtain the pattern again, I'd be incredibly grateful. Am almost positive it was a Woman's Weekly pattern. I'm a great fan of the magazine and have been since the mid-1970's when I bought my first copy, and never looked back. Please don't ever change! cheers, Lorraine:-)

Around 1982, I knitted an Aran style jacket from one of your patterns and wonder if you have archives for your old patterns? The body was stocking stitch with garter stitches mixed in, giving a spread moss stitch effect. The sleeves were done in a reverse cable effect and it had a mandarin collar. It has always been one of my favourites, I still wear it and I still receives favourable comments about it. I would love to knit another one and also know other people who would like to make one. Can you help please? Many thanks. Oh, and Woman's Weekly is still my favourite magazine!

Iwas adopted by my parents when i was 4 yrs old..I am fully prepared to look after her as long as i can,as she gave me a chance of a good family..Mom is 91 and i am 57.My brother & his wife have a business in Indonesia and can't move here But I could and I am glad to be here, even though it is hard to see mom this way.thanks for your great article.

This is my personal story. In my childhood the life that I had was full of nothing but violence and abuse to the point that my father would treat me like a piece of meat. I never had the proper love and attention that other children received. For all the time that I was home all I had was “your not like other children” my mother treated me no better as she always left on my own. Life as other people enjoyed was not what I experienced I never had any proper friends as I lived out a fair distance from anybody who would be friends. My story becomes rather distressing as I go further on. My father would abuse me in any way that he could I can just about remember that I was left in a room alone with him and that is all that I can remember and I can remember the old test card on the television and to this day I just cant look at the test card. I never received “proper” presents one Christmas I remember that I had a pencil when my sister had a typewriter and I remember that I was so upset that I went out and snapped it in half. My parents always stood up for each other and on one occasion I remember clearly to this day my youngest sister cut herself on a can and my father would have killed me if he was not held back. I felt like an alien in my own home. You may wonder why I did not contact something like child line well I was afraid to the point that if I was found out things would get worse for my father had such a temper that he would have killed me and any way I did not know that they existed and I didn‘t like using the phone. I just felt so trapped that I would starve myself and hope that someone would notice but no one ever did I had nowhere to go for my parents fell out with other family members so they knew nothing and to this day most of the extended family knows nothing except my auntie and uncle who can fill in some of my past that I cant remember but they can only remember the very early stuff as my parents fell out with them very early on. I used to suffer from stomach pains and my parents would put all of it down to an injection that I received and just because I could not speak properly that was put down to the injection. If they loved me they would have noticed that I had dyslexia which I found out a lot later in life I also had black outs when I was home and my parents didn’t care even then. Just when I thought that I was trapped for life without any love in my life and destined to destroy myself by starvation I met Roger who became my husband but as I grew to love him my parents placed untold pressure on me to finish with him and when I would come home most days the pressure grew to the extent that I thought of finishing with him but I am so glad that I didn’t as he is the only person who showed me the love that I thought wasn’t possible. I remember one time that I did finish with Roger my Father was so happy and he then mocked me. When me and Roger got back together it took me 3 weeks to tell them that I was going out with him again and then they where disgusted that I was back with him. They would then get very sarcastic and call him “an old man” just because he was 12 years older than me and he doesn’t drive a car. When I got pregnant with our first child Emma the situation became so critical that my father became so angry that I just was not able to enjoy the pregnancy like other expectant mothers. One day when Roger came over to my parents he was forced to get a place to live as he was told that when Emma was born Roger wasn’t allowed to see her. That’s when Roger got me out of the dump that I was in. My parents became so vile to me even when I left home they would make my life one living hell to the point that I eventually broke all ties with them and I told myself that they were dead and my sisters and brother were no better than my parents As a result of what has happened to me through all of this I am unable to go anywhere without my husband and I just cant answer the phone or answer the door. I went to see the doctor because of all this and I was referred to a therapist and then she sent me to a councillor who said that there was no issues with the past and she took me to my old house and since then I have had nightmares about this and I said this to the councillor and she would not listen to anything that I said. We complained to the hospital but that fell on deaf ears as they thought that I was a liar in what I said then the therapist washed her hands of me and then I just went inside myself and Roger has had to be a carer to me as I will not do anything without him and as far as going anywhere alone I just cant do that. I was just about getting my life in order when I had a bombshell I was at home one day and a knock came to the door and Roger answered it to find that it was my father to tell me that my mother was dieing and I was agonising weather to go and see her and I decided that I would puck up courage and go to the hospital to see her for the last time but what happened to me then was unforgivable. I arrived at the hospital and I was prepared for what I was about to see I entered the hospital and went to the ward there I was met by my sister who in no uncertain terms told to “go away as mother doesn’t want to see me”. I left the hospital in floods of tears and it took me a number of weeks to settle down. I know now that I have no family other than my immediate family that’s Roger, Emma and Becky. I have just become friendly with my auntie and uncle who has told me some things that my father has said. I want to put my side of the story as my father is spreading things around that he “doesn’t know what he has done to deserve the treatment that I am giving him” well I am so desperate to put the record straight and I really hope that you take up my story

I need two back numbers, can anyone help? The 6th June or thereabouts and the 30th September. I buy my magazines from a news agent who puts them by for me and I collect them about every three/four months. Long story, but generally this suits me. BUT the two that I have mentioned are missing from the pile. I only noticed when I went on to read the last part of a serial. I love the magazine and always have. I am an avid knitter, when I have the time, and love most of the items that are included.

I was looking at Dr Melanie Wynne-Jones article in the 13 January issue and her advice to use cod liver oil to help with arthritis pain. These are very useful and I have also used them for years to ease my pain. However, I now have bursitis, osteoporosis and possibly some auto-immune problem and the pain had become almost unbearable and the one wonderful thing that has helped me is MSM in crystal form. I sent her an email about this but had no reply so I assume she has not received it. However, it would be good if she had time to have a look at MSM as I am sure it will help many others. There is a book about it called 'The Miracle of MSM'. I know this is a rather 'over-the-top' title and I was sceptical initially, but desperate as I was barely able to walk and felt a bit as if life was not worth living, so I tried it and now have found the correct amount to keep me mobile. To me it is a miracle. I also sent you an email about your article on Israel as it stated that Jerusalem is the capital of the country. It is not - the capital is Tel Aviv. Would you be able to publish a retraction please. The article also gave the impression that the Palestinian Territories were unsafe to travel to, this is not true as many of us travel there on a regular basis with no trouble. There are specialised tours to the territories and it would be good if you also ran an article on our experiences there. I used to live in the Middle East, consider it as my other home, and do not recognise the way it is portrayed here in the West in fact it causes me a lot of unhappiness as it is so unfair. Kind regards Jane Heany

i have been areader of Woman's weekly for years as were my mother and aunt before me. i love your magazine for its interesting articles, travel items, health issues etc. I notice how other magazines which i also loved over the years deteriorated into what I can only describe as headline grabbing items on the lines of @I slept with my daughter's boyfriend' or 'I stabbed my husband on our wedding night!' Your magazine stayed true to it's origins and never compromised itself to sell more copies. however one thing really annoys me and it is that many of your offers, competions etc are confined to the United Kingdom and do not apply to your readers in the Republic of Ireland. Why is this when we have to pay more for Woman's Weekly than the readers in the UK do. We are only a hop and a jump across the Irish Sea not at the opposite side of the world. I hope that you take my views on board and redress the balance between two neighbourlng countries. With Regards Cora Marshall

TV talent shows 11,11,08 I watched a couple of the x factor shows at the start of the current series and like Frances Quinn I was appalled by the behaviour of the contestants. They appeared distraught at their rejection following the 'auditions'. Older people must be disgusted at this cringeworthy display of tantrums. People who have lived through wars, illness, poverty and real trauma, seeing someone who has queued for a couple of hours in such a state, because they can't have instant fame, money and success, must really annoy them. Even when they get through to the next round the completely exaggerated jubilant rejoicing, screaming, crying etc. is so false and repetitive, that it becomes meaninglesss. Not one of them says a dignified Thank you to the judges. It helps to perpetuate the myth that success doesn't require years of hard work.
