Measles

Measles | Symptoms and treatment of measles | Measles virus in children
Average rating: 4 out of 5 star rating

goodtoknow says: Measles is caused by a virus. Measles normally affects children, although adults can get it too. Since immunisation was introduced very few people get measles. Measles symptoms can be quite nasty with a fever, runny nose with sore eyes and a cough. A red blotchy rash then appears that spreads over your body. Measles fades after a few days. Lots of fluids and liquid paracetamol will bring the fever down and most people make a full recovery. Rare complications can occur which can trigger pneumonia, a fit or swelling of the brain, so see your GP if the measles symptoms worsen.

For a full medical explanation of the causes, symptoms and treatments of measles from patient.co.uk, read on.

Measles is an infection caused by the measles virus. It normally affects children, but can occur at any age. It is now rare in the UK due to immunisation. The illness is unpleasant, but most children make a full recovery. However, some children develop serious complications from measles.

I'd really like to know what effects it can have on a child's development, e.g. mentally. What effects will it have on their learning?xx

Sometimes measles can be contagious, so best to stay away from people who have it unless you want to get it to. Measles are horrible i have had them at age 14, and remember it well, was a horrible illnesswhen i had Measles i also had a sore throat and didnt want to eat or drink anything because it made me feel horrible and sick, best ways also to get rid of measles is to drink plently and rest, also dont scratch the rash if it gets itchy, (it sometimes does) and this article is good it helped me pass on my Health and social care coursework which is good, i put it in my own words and got loads of praise from the teacher.
