goodtoknow says: Panic attacks can be really scary, but if you get them you're not going mad or going to die. You're not alone either. Around 1 in 10 people get panic attacks, far more women than men. Although they aren't a sign of any physical illness the symptoms can be very frightening with palpitations, sweating, chest pains and dizziness. Start by working out any possible cause or trigger. There are lots of things to choose from that can help from breathing into a paper bag to psychological and complementary therapies. Choose what works best for you.

For a full medical explanation of the causes, symptoms and treatments of panic attacks from patient.co.uk, read on.

If you have an occasional panic attack, no treatment other than explanation and reassurance is usually needed. If you have recurring panic attacks, see your doctor as treatment can often help.

I also purhased The Linden Method recently and I have to say, it is brilliant. I also buy Pick Me Up magazine and see Charles' column. Chales, you are a life saver, thank you so much for all the work you do for anxiety and panic attacks sufferers like me. jane.

PANIC ATTACKS ALWAYS SEEM TO SPRING THEMSELVES UPON ME WHEN I AM RELAXING AND DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING PARTICULAR ON MY MIND. WHEN IM IN THE MIDST OF A CRISIS I SEEM TO COPE ,PANIC ATTACK FREE. I THINK THE SUBCONSIOUS MIND HAS A LOT TO ANSWER FOR.PANIC ATTACKS DO RUN IN MY FAMILY(FEMALES) WITH THE CONDITION WORSENING AROUND THE TIME OF THE MENOPAUSE.

hi im pam and i just want to let people know im 22 and have suffered with panic attaks since i was 15 years old due to being bullied in school when i had my first one i did not know what was happening i was terrified thought i whs going to die as i never new what they were til i was 18 i lernt to help myself by lieing down and just letting it happen because that would sumtimes put a stop to it i also learned to try to breathe thru it when i was 18 i finally told my mum about it because by that time i thort i was going mad but she then told me what they were and looked after me and helped me thru them and stil does to this day so my advice is dont be scared lots of people have them and your not alown and try to talk to someone close to you as u might find just having them close to you when your scared helps alot and please dont feel like your going mad because your not xxxxx

Some really nice information here. I reccently purchased the Linden Method and it has helped a lot. Charles Linden put it together and it contains lots of resources and you get support from the counsellors there. It really is very good and I would recommend it to anyone suffering from any kind of anxiety.
