Threadworms

Threadworms
Average rating: 4 out of 5 star rating

goodtoknow says: Threadworms are extremely common, especially in children, fairly harmless and easy to get rid of. The worms look like tiny cream threads, from 2 to 13mm long and can live for up to six weeks in your gut. Infected people scratch their bottoms, trap the eggs under the fingernails and can pass the eggs to you on their hands. If you then swallow eggs you'll become infected. They hatch out in your gut and the female worms lay eggs around your anus, which cause itching so the cycle repeats itself!. A treatment drink from your pharmacy will zap threadworms. Make sure the whole family takes it.

For a full medical explanation of the causes, symptoms and treatments of threadworms from patient.co.uk, read on.

Threadworms are common but are not usually serious. They can infect the gut and lay eggs around your anus which causes itch. Medication kills the worms, but not their eggs which can survive for two weeks. Hygiene measures for two weeks after taking medication prevents you from swallowing eggs to cause re-infection. All household members should be treated.

What are threadworms?

Threadworms are small, white, thread-like worms between 2 and 13 mm long. They infect human guts (intestines). They are common in children, but anyone of any age can be affected.

I have had worms reocurring for 4 years and they have gotten so bad my stomach is hurting so much, and I am always feeling sick. My doctor doesnt believe me and says it is no big deal. I finally convinced her to let me take a test. the test only has a twenty percent chance of confirming infection, and mine came back negative. my parents and doctor think i am lying, is there anyway to get rid of them, i have heard certain vitamins and natural things can kill them, could you help me ???

You really should tell your mum,if only so that everyone else in your home can be treated, Besides your mum will find out soon enough as another family member is bound to get infected, Plus the treatment is 1 simple dose (tablet) and extra hygiene routines,Ritually!!!

To the girls above - go to a well known Pharmacy, such as Boots, and behind the Counter they should have Thread Worm tablets - ask for a packet. Take 1 and then keep yourself washed and clean, don't put your fingers in your mouth, wash your bedclothes and don't share towels with anyone else in your house.
