Recovering from appendicitis

Recovering from appendicitis

A friend told me to take arnica as soon as possible after having my appendicitis taken out. It's a herb that is supposed to reduce inflammation and speed up the bruising and healing process. I took a tablet three times a day and I recovered quite quickly.

When my 10-year-old son was recovering after having his appendix out, his doctor told me it was important he didn't become constipated to avoid straining after the op. Milk of Magnesia, worked brilliantly - although my son did complain about the chalky taste.

Paul, 6 months

Ive just had my appendix sliced out whilst in Poland. Im a 34 year old male. Apparently the appendix had become quite inflamed and was ozzing puss, i can tell you that it was just over 24 hours before i realised i needed to visit the hospital and that i was in considerable pain. in any case i have been strictly instructed to follow a strict water based diet for the first week and pretty much nothing but boiled meats, yoghurts and bread for the week after. I have been told under no circumstances may i drink or eat fatty foods for at least three weks and that i cannot pick up anything over three kilos for three months. Seems a bit extreme to me.
