I only had a mild form of Clostridium difficile, but the diarrhoea was terrible. I was left feeling really washed out. I started taking Dioralyte Blackcurrant Sachets (Boots, £3.29 for six) which soon made me feel human again.

I'm always worried about hygiene in hospitals and the possibility of picking up bugs like MRSA and now Clostridium difficile. My best piece of advice if you have to go to a hospital, even if it's just to visit somebody, is to make sure you wash your hands regularly and thoroughly while you're there and as soon as you get home using anti-bacterial soap.

Last year I underwent open heart surgery and gathered together products to protect myself from MRSA and C.difficile. Normal antibacterial products have no effect against C.diffilce spores but I tracked down a surface and toilet spray and wipes which are very safe and form a film which protects against both bugs. It also provides lasting protection to the surface. So that others would not have to reinvent the wheel I bought in supplies and can sell them on to anyone going into hospital. Am happy to chat to anyone who would like reassurance. Have a safe hospital stay.

I found this fantstic product on the internet. The website is www.germwarfare.co.uk to combat c-diff and MRSA with certificates to prove it works. I Purchased some from Econo-Med and unlike oher products i found it safe with food and non-irritant. Its just fantastic and i fully recomend them concerned about the superbugs which i am terrified of catching.

How can nurses/care workers protect themselves against this infection when nursing/caring for a patient with this infection?
