Treating cold sores

Treating cold sores
Average rating: 4 out of 5 star rating

I've tried a few of the creams you can buy for cold sores, and definitely find Zovirax works fastest. It costs £5.79, which is more than most of the other brands, but it's worth it.

Press a warm, wet tea bag to your cold sore. It contains tannin, which has antiviral properties so will help your cold sore heal quicker.

Ive always had them, get them really bad in the sun. What i've tried before when i was on holiday and didnt have coldsore cream was ordinary sun cream i found it worked a lot better than a 5pound tube of zovirax. also to prevent me getting them again i have been taking Selenium supplements which seem to be working 30 tablets from any chemist 99p.

I try and prevent cold-sores by taking L-Lysine supplement (Holland and Barrett sell it) and also try and keep my lips moisturised. But if I am really stressed or ill I can't avoid getting them. So when that happens I go to my GP make a huge fuss and get them to give me aclivor tablets - which is the main ingredient in Zovirax. Its really strong, and I have found I won't get a cold sore for about a year after taking it!

I've suffered with these horrible things for years BUT FINALLY I've found something that really helps. Its called Releev, its a herbal lotion that you put on as soon as you feel that hot burning tingle, and keep putting on for about a day. For me, it stops the blister developing fully, though I do get a small lesion, and it means it heals in a day or two rather than a week or two. I googled RELEEV and bought some from a Guernsey web site (expensive) but have just seen some on EBay and ordered straight away (much cheaper). I cant guarantee you'll get the same results as me but I hope I help someone out there. Its worth a try.

As I do get a lot of cold sores I found that if you put toothpaste on it it will dry it up n go down in a matter of a day, or put vinagr, aftershave on it, ice cube and a hot flanel, or ovesly put cold sore cream on. Thank You For Your Time.=)
