Coping with cystitis

Average rating: 4 out of 5 star rating

I've suffered from cystitis many times, and tried all sorts of things for it. I got the best results from Medic Herb Uvacin (£6.99 for 80 tablets from www.healthstore.uk.com) The burning and stinging feeling had gone within 18 hours.

Drink cranberry juice if you've got cystitis or a bladder infection. Cranberries contain chemicals that help stop the increase of bacteria that causes the infection.

i have suffered from cystitis for about 2o years and went to see a chinese doctor who's advise changed my life. i was told to boil a corn on the cob with the leaves for 30mins then drink the juice during the day. also not to eat too much fish and none at all at times when i have it and things like garlic onions spices etc to cut out completely. it is ok to cook with the garlic cloves but remove them to eat the food. i have experimented a lot over last five or so years and only get cystitis now when i eat wrongly. things that usually set me off is housin sauce (you get with duck), alcohol, usually a short with coke, green tai chilli and other similar foods, the spicier the worse i am. some if eaten in moderation dont bother me but i have learnt by eating bland diet and adding certain foods what triggers me off. i will write more again but im at work now and cant finish this.

I suffer with cystitis so regularly that i have an emergancy prescription on hand to take. I have had scans done and my doctor said that everything appears normal and healthy. I get it roughly around one a month i think. It is so painful and it effects my whole life. I am affected as i cannot go to work, it is also affects my relationship with my partner as i feel i dont want to do anything as i fear i will get cystitis. I have been to the doctor and he has giving me 3 samples so the next time i get it i have to send them off to the lab for analysis. My doctor said he wants to do this just to see what bacteria comes up and then i may be referred to a specialist. I have tried everything cranberry tablets dailly, i drink loads. I am just fed up with it and need something that will actually prevent this from happening. Please can someone give me sone advice

Hi, I suffer occasional bouts of cystitis, ever since having a hysterectomy at a young age due to fibroids.Unfortunately,(as can happen) during the op my bladder got a tiny nick, which sometimes causes me to have a tempermental bladder ! Having lots of sex can make this condition flare up. I've read both postings on this page and thought I'd share a view here. In the begining, I'd rush to the nearest A & E, literally peeing more blood than urine and despite what people say, the pain can be excruciating. I used to take Amoxycillin,anti-biotics, three 500mg tablets a day for 2 days. That usually worked. However on the last two occasions, I drank a lot of Cranberry, with boiled water. Several times a day, drink a pint of it. When you pee, literally push every drop from your bladder, flushing out the germs. Drinking Cranberrywarm seemed to help. Also I drank Lemon Barley water and just had a painkiller every now and then. Trick is not to leave it. Moment you get the first inkling, start gulping the juice! Chewing fresh watercress is something my friend swore by and I haven't tried that one yet, but maybe? Hope this is of some help.

I suffered from cystitis for a few years after a childbirth and had blood in my urine. I was a tumour. I did not know but I know now for sure - whatever the case is never ever have hot baths to "relieve" pain as you only cause more damage and if ony you have a single drop of blood in your urine - run to your doctor. I had a treatment -electrocoagulation and since then never had any problems ( since 1990) Cranberries are your best friends to help you in this condition. Lara

I have now suffered with cystitis for about 3 years and more recently every month, i have been given antibiotics some of which worked others which didnt. Taking a tablet every night helped for a time but made me fell sick so was not a good idea ona long term basis. I visited the hospital where a camera was inserted into my urine pipe, ouch! painfull and dectected nothing. I am at my wits end its really affecting my life and as i am just about to start a new job i would be really thankfull for some new tips!! Cranberry over the counter remedies, ive tried them all HELP!!! If anybody reading this has any ideas i would really appreciate the tips.
