Treating fibromyalgia

Treating fibromyalgia
Average rating: 4 out of 5 star rating

To reduce the pain of fibromyalgia, try putting ice in a towel and pressing on the painful joints for 20 minutes every couple of hours. That should reduce inflammation and lessen the pain.

I needed something for the pain caused by fibromyalgia but I didn't want to become dependent on creams that contained painkillers. Then I discovered MSM Joint & Muscle Balm. It's only got vitamins and herbs in it and I love it! Get it from www.highernature.co.uk for £8.40 for 100ml.

I was diagnosed about 6 years ago after my doctor sent me to an arthritis consultant. brilliant doctor sent me to the arthritis rehab centre at our local "cottage" hospital. I spent two weeks as an inpatient answering loads of questions, attending relaxation classes, exercises, hydro pool and much more. I was so relieved to be told I had fibromyalgia, after a while I thought I was losing my marbles. No one seemed to know what was wrong and I am in constant pain and hurt all over. Like lots of other people I get unbelievably tired and weepy but find a nice warm bath helps. I never sleep very well, have just been diagnosed with anxiety (which also seems part of it). I drop things all the time and do tend to burn myself when cooking (which is worrying) because of the numbness and pins and needles. I also trip a lot because at times my feet are quite numb. My memory is also bad at times and I cant even remember my phone number!! Try relaxation techniques, a little gentle exercise like walking and know your limits. Stop and have a power nap it helps a lot.

I was diagnosed with global fibromyalgia about 9 years ago,I was a healthy man with no real physical problems.Since then my life has been miserable, constant pain in every inch of my body including awful stomach ache, pain in my groin and my penis especially when i need to pee.Headaches that feel like my brains going to explode I have numbness in my hands and the soles of my feet. All this causes very bad bouts of depression and mood swings.I could take boxes of painkillers but it has little effect when its really bad,the constant muscle pain is very frustrating as I get exhausted doing such simple tasks. My consultant and GP have been very understanding but told me from the beginning there is not alot can be done for this condition. This is a very debilitating condition and has made every day a constant battle just trying to have a semblance of quality of life.

my husband is a sufferer of fibromyalgia for 14 years now. doctors dont know enough about this dreadful illness and therfore cant really help. he is inconstant severe pain and has been depressed for abround 10 years because of the pain. it is extremely hard to watch someone who is 34years old have days when he doesnt want to live. painkillers are just about taking the edge off the pain and hes been told theres no other help for him!! i just wish there was more help and support for fibromyalgia patients and their families.
