I've had IBS for years and swear by Colpermin (£4.85 for 20 capsules from www.pharmacy2u.co.uk). The capsules contain peppermint oil and dissolve slowly so you feel better all day.

Making small changes in your diet can really help with IBS. I found I'm so much better since I started eating six small meals a day instead of three big ones.

I have chronic IBS, the excrutiating pain in the lower abdomen amd up the back passage makes me feel really ilI, I have tried Colofac,Buscopan and even had Spasmonal from the doctor, but nothing works. I eat healthily but realise that processed foods and wheat don't agree with me, also I am allergic to courgettes. Is there anything else I could try. I would appreciate any help. Many thanks

I have Ulcerative Colitis and am on Basalazide tablets 4 daily. In 2006 I was put on Steroids for six weeks but instead of having 40mg every day for the first week and then reducing the dosage over the next 5 weeks I was given the wrong amount and told to take 40mg every day for six weeks. I ballooned up to over 13 stone (I was previously 11 stone) and felt awful. Once they realised I had taken too many I had to then come off them slowly so spent a few more weeks reducing the dosage and eventually coming off them. My question is, I have lost my waistline completely, cannot loose the extra weight gained and am thoroughly depressed. The doctors say its probably because I ate more but believe me I felt so sick whilst taking the Steroids I certainly did not. Can anyone help me try to get the weight off or have they experienced the same problem.

Food Intolerances and IIBS I find I have no trouble if I prepare my own food with Fresh meat Veg and fruit. I think it's the aditives that cause trouble.

Iam suffering from IBS for 20 yrs. In my case it is associated with acute constipation. All laxatives do not suit me. Some laxatives cause loose motions. Only one ayurvedic powder medicine suited me. I used it for more than 15 yrs. Latest colonoscopy revealed multiple small sessile polyps, biopsy of which says they are benign. Impression of Colon:- thickened mucosa colon and hyper plastic polyp rectum. I cannot pass motion without laxative. Have to go to toilet several times. Gas and flatulence are the other symptoms. The whole day Iam spending with dis comfort and a sensatoin of incomplete evacuation. Right from childhood Iam having mental stress and tension. Please advise. Regards.
