Control symptoms of the menopause and HRT
I found myself getting forgetful as I went through the menopause. Then my sister told me Ginkgo Biloba tablets are supposed to help. They must work because I can remember the name of the tablets! Mine are called Ginkyo and are £9.95 for 30 from www.mypharmacy.co.uk.

During the menopause your body doesn't produce the female hormone oestrogen. Try eating soybeans and tofu as they contain natural plant oestrogens, which replace the oestrogen your body's no longer making.

I had a hysterectomy a year and a half ago. I had very heavy periods and I also had endometriosis. I had some blood tests done recently and my doctor told me that I was going through the change. Unfortunately because of the endometriosis and the fact that I have a history of blood clots, I cannot take any tablets with oestrogen in or HRT. Does anyone know of an alternative?

I was on HRT Patches which worked wonderfully - I have now been off them for 5 years and everything has gone downhill since. My hair is thinning, my skin is so dry it just flakes off and now I am getting downy hair on my face and chin! I would far rather be back on HRT. Could I go back on to it?

I am 45 yaears of age and my periods have been going a bit haywire sometimes I take two in a month other times I dont take any . I havent had a period now for two months. I had a blod test done and it came back that I am not going through the menopause. I still think that I am I have too many of the symptoms ie:-hot flushes, disturbed sleep ,weight gain, problems remembering things, fatigueand mood swings . The blood test was only done a couple of months ago is it possible that it was wrong? Kathleen Grimason

Since starting the menopause at 50 (2 years ago) I have put on 2 stone however my eating habits have not changed and I don't overeat and am quite sensible with food and only go out for a drink at the pub once a week, but no matter how I try I cannot shift the weight whether it be by cutting down/out and excersing. All the weight has all gone on my boobs and stomach but the rest of me has stayed the same and I look quite slim from the back until I turn sidways. My bust has gone up from 38B to a 40DD!! and where i used to be a size 12 I am now wearign size 18/20 tops. I drink lots of water and green tea thinking it might shift it off my stomach. Can anyone suggest how I can shift this weight I have even tried weight loss tablets but no joy - Many Thanks

Hello I am 41 and have constantly achy boobs and hot sweats whats happening to me? Also I go to the gym 3 times a week and power walk and swim regularly but seem to keep putting weight on rather than losing it. I do eat healthily but have the odd treat now and again like anyone - can you give me any advice? Thanks, hopefully,

A vey good friend of mine has not had a period since she was 37 which is about 10 years ago, she has been hrough the hot sweats and other symtons concerning the menopause when his wekend for the first time she has had a period which she has been bleeding for the past three days, would this mean that she has not yet gone through he menopause and could even yet get pregnant or is there a more sinister reason for this and should she contact her GP. She is a little concerned and if you are able to give her some advise she woukd be greatful Many thanks Lyn Newman
